Effect of scheduling distributed practice with different rest periods in achievement of some closed basic skills in basketball

AbstractThe aim of the research was to identify the effect of scheduling distributed practice with different rest periods in achievement of some closed basic skills in basketball. The researchers used the experimental approach to suit the nature of the research. The research community consisted of (193) students in the intermediate year (2016/2018) in the district of Al-Baladiyat. The sample was 48 students with a percentage of (24.87%) in four equal groups (12) students per group, The four research groups were equal in each of the variables (age, height, mass, some mental abilities, and a number of physical and motor elements that affect the learning of the achievement of some closed basic basketball skills) and used the (design of equal experimental groups with pre-testl and post-test) Means of data collection included interviews, questionnaire, tests, measurement and scientific observation. The educational program for the school was applied to the control group (the Instructor’s guide of Physical Education for the intermediate stage - Ministry of Education) and the educational programs for scheduling distributed practice were applied to the three experimental groups as following (scheduling distributed practice with a period equivalent to the period of performance),And (scheduling distributed practice with a slightly longer period than the performance period) for the second experimental group and the scheduling practice distributed more than the previous performance period of the third experimental group. Educational programs included (44) educational unit by (11) units for each group and at a rate of two units each week (except shooting which continued (3) educational units) and the duration of each educational unit (45 minutes)
The researchers found that the three educational programs to schedule practice distributed with different rest periods and the educational program of the control group (the school's educational program) positively affected the learning achievement of some closed basic skills in basketball.
